It was 1908 when trademark of Rolex was registered by Wilsdorf and opened their first office in Switzerland. Rolex was said to be sound like a watch being wound but the main purpose behind this name was the ease of pronunciation in any language. The vision was clear to target watch buyers all over the world. It was the high standards maintained by Wilsdorf that in 1910, certificate of chronometric performance was awarded to Rolex wristwatch. It was first of its kind award that took place in Switzerland at that time.
